Local Government Super is local government's own not-for-profit superannuation fund. It is the preferred and designated superannuation fund for employees in Awards and Enterprise Agreements in the industry in New South Wales and was established in July 1997 as a joint initiative of the local government unions and the Local Government and Shires Association.
The Fund has equal representation of employers and employees in the industry. There are two employee representatives nominated by the United Services Union, one by the LGEA and one by depa.

Local Government NSW is the peak industry association that represents the interests of all 152 NSW general purpose councils, 12 special purpose councils and the NSW Aboriginal Land Council. They implement Executive and Conference decisions and provide research support for the policy positions and standing committees of both Associations.
